A lot of sneakerheads are complaining about Air Jordan 4 fatigue right now. Over the last few years, Jordan Brand and Nike have released dozens of colorways for the silhouette, sometimes just altering the sneakers with a few tweaks. The Air Jordan 4 “Berlin” could seem like another one of those. However, there are some interesting details that make it stand out from the rest, especially if you’re totally into Bear fur.
Sneakerheads often wonder what happens behind the scenes when Jordan Brand comes up with the concepts for new releases. In the case of the Air Jordan 4 “Berlin,” it probably went something like this: “We need a Spring 2027 release that turns Michael Jordan’s 1989 classic into a tribute to Germany’s capital city and its famous coat of arms. We need black bear fur, a unique feature that makes it different from the Black Cat. How about circles? Oh, and let’s change the sole to dark mocha brown. And let’s call that Cave Stone.”
It’s not hard to imagine some of the thinking behind the Air Jordan 4 “Berlin,” but not everyone would buy the storytelling here. Yes, it looks unique, but that’s not enough to sell a sneaker these days.

While we don’t have official images of the sneaker yet, zsneakerheadz has done a mock-up based on the rumors. Instead of standard mesh netting, the sneaker reportedly swaps in concentric circular patterns inspired by water droplets – which is probably its biggest feature.
Online reactions on Instagram show that many are split over this shoe. One Instagram commenter called them “Black cats with gummy soles,” while another simply wrote, “This is fire, might be getting these.” Somebody else wasn’t having it at all: “Even as a German, I think these are absolute Trash! Ugly AF! Just stick with OG colorways.” Sneakerheads are usually super direct about how they feel.
But maybe they have a point. When was the last time an Air Jordan with pony hair made you sit up and say, “I’ve got to have these?” Probably never. And yet, Nike keeps pushing this strange texture onto customers.
There’s also word that Nike Air branding will appear on the heel, a detail usually saved for originals or limited releases. Why it’s here is anyone’s guess.

And to make things even more complicated, the Air Jordan 4 “Berlin” (Style code JA9635-001) will release exclusively in the Berlin region during Spring 2027. That means there’s almost no chance of anyone outside of the area getting them. Unless resellers get a hold of them first, which would mean that they’ll be sold for way more than the retail price.
The Jordan city-themed releases are great, for sure. But not every one of them is a must-have. Pony hair plus strange circles plus bear theme probably doesn’t equal a big win. But if Air Jordan 4 “Berlin” makes your eyes widen, you’d better jump on these fast.
