Tinker Hatfield’s Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” is back… again… for the 100th time, probably… in 2027. But the good news is that this time Jordan brand isn’t modernizing it or remixing it for a new generation. Instead, new reports suggest that the pair will actually be identical to the one Michael Jordan wore back in 1988.
There’ll be no cracked midsoles from 2023’s “Reimagined” release or icy tweaks from the 2018 “Free Throw Line” edition. This is not another “inspired by” release, at least that’s what everyone believes. The 2027 Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” will apparently stick to the exact design: elephant print lines, lower mudguards, and Nike Air branding on the heel.
Sure, Hatfield’s Air Jordan 3 has been everywhere in the last few years, but this one does feel a lot more special, especially if Jordan Brand delivers on their promises. As we all know, this is the shoe that saved Nike’s relationship with Michael Jordan in 1988 after he was disappointed with the Air Jordan 2. That makes the Jordan 3 one of the most important sneakers of all time after the Air Jordan 1.
The shoe’s legacy also exploded after Jordan floated from the free-throw line during the 1988 NBA Dunk Contest against Dominique Wilkins. That photo is still burnt into the memory of sneakerheads nearly 40 years later. And it will obviously still be a huge selling point in 2027 too.
But, honestly, the timing sounds a bit strange. The Air Jordan 3 actually turns 40 in 2028, so perhaps the date here is wrong or perhaps Jordan Brand is planning something different for the anniversary.
This is a sneaker that’s always going to sell. They could release it every year and it would sell out instantly every time. That’s just how legendary this pair is. The 2027 Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” won’t be any different.
