As we slowly draw closer to the Chinese New Year celebrations of 2025, the highly anticipated ‘Year of the Snake’ collection from Jordan Brand is beginning to emerge. Among these exclusive releases is the Air Jordan 1 Low OG, a sneaker that subtly incorporates snake-inspired details to bring next year’s CNY theme to life.

A Closer Look At The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake”
The pair’s base is made of Summit White leather, while the overlays are made of Photon Dust leather. The remainder of the design is then dominated by references to 2025’s Chinese zodiac animal. From snakeskin designs on the tongue and ripstop material on the Swoosh to iridescent winged logos on the heel, the design is full of subtle details inspired by slithery snakes. The shoe is finished with a sail midsole and a transparent rubber outsole and is packed in a special iridescent-inspired box with black Jumpman hang tags.
What We Like About The Sneakers
Compared to mock-up pictures of the Air Jordan 1 “Year of the Snake” release, the final product does fall slightly short of initial expectations. Sure, there are subtle allusions to the Chinese zodiac animal, but the overall design could have been more “striking”. Even if Jordan Brand had simply decided to use the space beneath the translucent outsole to showcase an image of a snake, the shoe could have appeared more remarkable.
Release Details
The “Year of the Snake” AJ1 Low will be available for purchase in spring 2025 on Nike.com and at select Jordan Brand retailers. The footwear comes in full family sizes, with the price for adult sizes set at $160 USD.
