While we wait for the next chapter in Union La’s collaborations with Jordan Brand to unfold in 2025, we thought we’d highlight a special custom design by talented artists Yuang Louis (@louis_yuang) and John Trottier (@johnnyskicks_) that reimagines their Union x Air Jordan 1 design from 2018.

A Closer Look At The Sneakers
These custom Union LA AJ1 sneakers are available in two colourways: black, red, and white, and black and white.
The first pair features white python skin on the toe box, quarter panels, and ankle flap, with vivid red on the overlays.
The black-and-white pair also starts with a white Python leather base, but switches up the colour on the overlays to dark black. On this pair, you’ll also spot bright blue stitching around the colour, which matches the edging on the overlays.
Both pairs have grey suede added to the collar as well as two-toned laces, dark black at the bottom and sail at the top, that mimic the original “Black Toe” design. The shoes also feature a yellow tag with “YA/JK” or “UN/YA” branding and a retro yellowed midsole for a worn-in appearance.
What We Like About These Sneakers
These sneakers mix hard-to-ignore luxe touches with classic Union design elements we know and love. Even though the red pair is stunning, we really like the black and white design’s intricate details and unique colour blocking.

These custom sneakers are available on Yuang’s website for $1850 USD a piece. Note that these kicks are made to order, so allow at least 4 to 8 weeks for completion.
