Michael Jordan didn’t just win six NBA titles between 1991 and 1998. He changed what you wear on your feet. His partnership with Nike turned red and black Air Jordans into cultural shorthand for dominance, attitude, and wins with the Chicago Bulls. That colour combo followed him everywhere, from Finals nights to playground courts. It kept resurfacing across Jordan models long after his last buzzer-beater. Some pairs saw real hardwood action. Others lived only in your wish list. Either way, red and black Jordans still hit hard. You know the ones.

1. Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Legends Of Summer Black 3M”

Justin Timberlake’s exclusive Air Jordan sneakers from the 2013 ‘Legends of Summer’ tour with Jay-Z are still coveted by fans today. Among them was a special Air Jordan 1 design made of matte black leather with striking metallic red and chrome accents throughout. Many fans thought the kicks would receive a wider release, yet they are still among the rarest and most striking red and black Jordans made.

2. Air Jordan 4 “Bred”

The iconic Air Jordan 4 “Bred” has become a mainstay of Jordan’s footwear line. Fans who witnessed Mike’s game-winning shot over Craig Ehlo in the final seconds of the 1989 NBA Playoffs will never forget seeing him in these black and red Air Jordan 4s with their grey and white accents.

3. Jordan 5 “Raging Bull Red”

The “Raging Bull Red” Jordan 5 is a gorgeous sneaker that debuted as part of the “Raging Bull” DMP pack in 2009 before becoming a standalone release in 2021. The uppers are mostly red suede, with black components on the eyestays, inner lining, branding, and midsole, as well as a 3M silver tongue and translucent details on the lace lock and outsoles.

4. Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared”

This predominantly black colourway is widely associated with Michael Jordan’s first NBA title when the GOAT famously wore them in a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in 1991. The “Black Infrared” Jordan 6 has a black nubuck upper with infrared accents on the midsole, heel tab, and lace lock for a classic look that never gets old.

5. Air Jordan 6 “Toro Bravo”

The popularity of the 2009 “Raging Bull Red” Jordan 5 design must have inspired Jordan Brand to create 2023’s Air Jordan 6 “Toro Bravo” release. Aside from the identical ‘Varsity Red’ suede uppers, the colourway also has similar icy translucent outsoles and black accents on the tongue, inner lining, and midsoles.

6. Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game”

This popular AJ 12 colourway earned its nickname after MJ’s more than memorable performance on court in the 1997 NBA Finals. The basketball superstar cemented the sneaker’s position in sneaker and sports history by scoring 38 points in Game 5 against opponents Utah Jazz while sporting this black and red beauty despite being clearly ill.

7. PSNY X Jordan 10 Retro “Red”

In 2015, Jordan Brand and Public School New York collaborated to produce two designs for the Air Jordan 10. However, the “Red” colourway quickly became a fan favourite. The sneaker features a premium red leather upper, black leather details on the eyestays, and a matching inner lining and outsole. While the AJ10’s outsole typically pays homage to Michael Jordan’s accomplishments, this sneaker’s insole also celebrates PSNY’s milestones and triumphs.

8. Air Jordan 11 Retro “Playoffs Bred”

As you can probably already tell, Michael Jordan has many classic sneaker designs associated with his incredible basketball legacy, and the Air Jordan 11 Retro ‘Playoffs Bred’ is undoubtedly among the most popular. The shoe’s black patent leather mudguards, icy blue outsole and red highlights were on full display when Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to championship glory against the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1996 NBA Finals. And ever since, they’ve become an essential.

9. Air Jordan 14 “Red Ferrari”

It’s no secret that Michael Jordan loves luxurious cars. To the extent that Tinker Hatfield created the Air Jordan 14 in honour of MJ’s passion for fast cars and particularly his affinity for Ferraris. Of course, a distinctive red colourway is practically an essential for any design that is inspired by a Ferrari, and this Air Jordan 14 delivers with its red suede uppers, carbon fibre and black accents, and a yellow Jumpman emblem that has been inspired by the Ferrari crest.

When a sneaker is given a moment of attention in a well-known movie franchise like The Fast and the Furious—more specifically, its Tokyo Drift instalment—you know it’s something truly special. These sporty-looking red Jordans, which were inspired by the Bentley Continental GT Coupe, include premium suede uppers, silver metal accents, and black mesh midsoles that give these Jordan shoes a sleek and luxurious look.
