We might be a while away from the Summer Olympics, but we’re getting an early glimpse of Jordan Brand sneakers inspired by the global event. More specifically, I am talking about the Air Jordan 38 Low “Torch”, which draws directly from the logo for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Backstory of The Design
You may not have seen this year’s Summer Olympic branding. If that’s the case, let me tell you that it’s a wonderful blend of three unique symbols: the iconic gold medal, the Olympic flame, and the symbolic figure of Marianne, representing France. If you take in the design of the “Torch” colourway, you’ll spot the way these elements have been subtly woven into the overall look.
Take, for example, the “Particle Beige” hue on the upper. Its a subtle nod to the golden hues of the Olympic gold medals.

Then there’s the well-placed Olympic torch on the tongue of the left shoe and the striking flame embroidery on the textile quarter panels and heels. Both stand as elegant tributes to the Olympic flame. Finally, the “Hyper Crimson” accents on the lining, tongue and TPU reinforcements also give a subtle nod to the fiery theme.
What We Like About These Sneakers
It is hard not to love the carefully stitched details on the quarter panels and heel. They remind me of Asian textile art, which is both beautiful and intricate.
