Jordan Brand has another Air Jordan 1 “Year of the Snake” release planned, but this high-top iteration takes a unique spin on the theme, inspired by the Chinese deity Xuanwu.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker
For those who are unfamiliar, Xuanwu is a mythological creature that represents the north and is sometimes shown as a hybrid between a turtle and a snake, a concept reflected in the shoe’s detailing. The design features intricate scale and shell patterns on the overlays, balanced by a black collar and white leather base. The tortoise component of the Chinese god is represented by the brown and amber tortoiseshell decorations on the Swoosh, Wings logo, heel, and outsole, while snakeskin leather on the toe overlays, eyestays, and ankle flap highlights the serpent theme. Finally, a pair of leather rope laces adds a touch of elegance to the design, while a plain off-white midsole rounds out the look.
What We Like About The Sneakers
Most of Jordan Brand’s “Year of the Snake” offerings have been lacking in creativity; however, we’ve got to say the premise of this particular Air Jordan 1 has been implemented in an intriguing and visually appealing way. The combination of tortoiseshell and snakeskin embellishments across the AJ1 creates a distinctive and luxurious look that we are sure many sneakerheads will appreciate.
