Sneaker boutique Index Portland has discovered a rare wear test sample of an “Alternate Taxi” Air Jordan 12. In reality, though, is the “Alternate Taxi” design a “Taxi” colourway at all?

A Closer Look At The Sneaker
First of all, we need to note that the “Alternate” version shares many similarities with the popular “Taxi” colourway, including white leather uppers, black textured mudguards, black inner lining, and black pull tabs—quite a few similarities to be found. But there are also significant distinctions. The midsole’s heel portion is black, and the eyelets are silver instead of gold. The tongue is also black on this release, which some may like or dislike. Other differences include black laces, a change in branding colour, and—most importantly—the removal of the “Taxi” yellow hits that give the colourway its signature moniker.
What We Like About The Sneakers
As much as we enjoy an alternate design now and then, we’re pleased Jordan Brand went with the typical “Taxi” colour blocking for the AJ12 release in November of this year. However, I have to say that I do surprisingly like the black tongue on this alternate style. The black midsole at the heel, on the other hand, isn’t as appealing to me.
Where to Get The Air Jordan 12 “Alternative Taxi”?
If this alternative design speaks to your tastes, it is currently available for purchase on the Index website in a size 13. But because this pair is a rare sample, it does cost a staggering$3,500 USD.
