Let’s be honest upfront: The Air Jordan 2 has never been the darling of the sneaker community. Heck, not even Michael Jordan himself was a big fan of the sneaker’s design and performance. Over the years, Nike and Jordan Brand have tried just about every colourway under the sun to make the sneaker more appealing. But no such luck as yet. The Air Jordan 2‘s baby brother, the Air Jordan 2 Low, however, has gotten a little more love. Let’s take a look at the top 7 Air Jordan 2 Low colorways of all time.
1. Shelflife x Air Jordan 2 Low
Released as recently as 2022, this special collaboration between South Africa’s most popular sneaker store and Jordan Brand is special. Not only is it Jordan’s first collab with an African store, but the store went the extra mile to ensure that the sneaker captures the aesthetic of its brand and culture. The off-white suede, the tonal lizard-textured overlay, and the pop of orange color here and there make the sneaker look clean and minimalistic. This makes it pretty easy to match up with any fit. As someone who owns a pair of these, I can vouch for how comfortable they are, too.
Release date: October 21, 2022
Color: White/Sail-Light Bone-Bright Mandarin
2. Air Jordan 2 Low “Gym Red”
Red colorways are generally an easy hit with sneakerheads. It’s no surprise then that the Air Jordan 2 Low “Gym Red”, which is dressed in a full red colour scheme (except for a spot of turquoise on the sole), sold out pretty quickly. It’s one of the better-looking Lows around, with its striking color. Plus, the snake skin again makes these feel premium.
Release date: April 2, 2016
Color: Gym Red/University Red-Hyper Turquoise
3. Off-White x Air Jordan 2 Low “White/Varsity Red”
Has there ever been an Off-White Jordan release that hasn’t caused a stir in the community? Just one look, and you can see why Virgil Abloh’s take on the retro silhouette is incredibly unique. It’s not just the colors or Michael Jordan’s signature on the side, either. It’s the whole crumbling and pre-worn look that caught the attention of fans. While I’ve personally never liked pre-yellowed midsoles, this sneaker is incredibly beautiful. This is art.
Release date: December 11, 2021
Color: White/Varsity Red/Black
4. Air Jordan 2 Low “Black/Varsity Red”
2024 saw the release of this sleek black, white and gold Women’s Low, which was inspired by nighttime fashion. The black suede on the quarter panels grabs the attention of most sneakerheads, giving the sneaker a more luxurious look in compares to other AJ2 Lows.
Release Date: March 27, 2024
Color: Black/Varsity Red-Metallic Gold-Off White
5. Air Jordan 2 Low “Seersucker”
Designed to capture springtime colors, the Seersucker (or Air Jordan 2 Low “Easter” as it is also called) has a very soft look about it. The Pale Vanilla, White, and Photon Dust and the mix of striped and checked materials make it standout from every other sneaker on this list. And don’t think they’re just for ladies either. These are unisex, as far as I can tell, meaning guys can rock them, too. Personally, this is the type of sneaker I’d wear to the beach. It just has a relaxed vibe to it.
Release Date: April 8, 2023
Color: Atmosphere/Pale Vanilla-White-Photon Dust
6. Air Jordan 2 Low “Responsibility”
By now, it’s pretty clear to see that Jordan Brand is willing to take risks with the AJ2 Low. They’ve tried various combinations of textures, colors and materials to make every drop feel unique. That’s very evident with the Air Jordan 2 Low “Responsibility”. The grey elephant-print textile and the midsole wrapped in shaggy beige suede is something we haven’t seen on any other drop. A patch on the inside of the sneaker reads: “Jordan presents RESPONSIBILITY wear your shoes show the world where you’ve been. PEACE LOVE RESPECT.”
Release Date: January 28, 2023
Color: Black/Anthracite-Smoke Grey-Muslin
7. Two 18 x Air Jordan 2 Low
Another sneaker boutique collab, the Two 18 shows love to the Detroit, Michigan store. Crafted with suede and leather, it has what’s been described as a “rocky tan” look – basically different earthy-brown tones. But it’s the cool embossed logo on the tongue that got most fans excited. It’s just such a sophisticated look for a sneaker.
Release Date: October 21, 2022
Color: Rocky Tan/British Tan-Gym Red-Team Royal
