Walk into a sneaker store in 2025 and you’ll notice something odd. Jordans. Sitting. Not behind the counter. Not sold out online in thirty seconds. Just… there. A strange sight for a brand built on sellouts since Michael Jordan launched his first signature shoe in 1985. Jordan Brand dropped plenty this year. The “Banned” Air Jordan 1 High returned, and the original team-up with Undefeated made another run. Big moments for collectors. Yet pairs still linger on shelves at retailers and even on Nike’s own site. What happened? Some blame the economy. Others point to the nonstop flood of releases. Reselling cooled off too, which removes that “buy now or regret it forever” panic. Whatever the reason, 2025 produced a rare sight: Jordans you can actually walk in and buy without racing a bot. Sneakerheads from 2015 would faint.
Air Jordan 1 Low “Obsidian”
Plenty of sneakerheads had their eye on the Jordan 1 Low “Obsidian” this year. Who can blame them? The sneaker is essentially a low-top version of the fan-fave Air Jordan 1 High “Obsidian” from 2019, but it also has clear Travis Scott x Fragment AJ1 Low vibes to it. But even with all the hype surrounding this release, there are still plenty of sizes sitting on Nike.com.
Air Jordan 1 High “UNC” Reimagined
The “UNC” Jordan 1 Highs have always been a crowd-pleaser; well, that is, until this year’s Reimagined pairs. Many sneakerheads who did cop the most recent release have defended the design online, claiming that images don’t do the sneaker justice and that they look far better in person. But this still hasn’t stopped them from gathering dust in stores. It may be a little fitting given the inspiration behind them.
Air Jordan 1 High “Deep Royal Blue” (Rare Air)
Usually, sneakerheads (or more accurately, hype beasts) hear of a rare release and immediately jump right in, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for this year’s “Rare Air” editions. The Jordan 1 High “Deep Royal Blues” in particular are still sitting on shelves…and at a reduced price at that.
Air Jordan 1 High “Shattered Backboard”
Who would have guessed that the Jordan 1 High “Shattered Backboard” would still be available in a selection of different sizes two months after its release? Many sneakerheads had been looking forward to this pair and couldn’t wait to get their hands on it. So, maybe everything worked out for the fans who really wanted them.
Air Jordan 3 “Pure Money”
Not even pairs as clean as the Jordan 3 “Pure Money” stand a chance in this economy. Maybe there was just too much heat dropping in July. You had pairs like the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua”, the Air Jordan 5 “Wings”, and the Rare Air Jordan 4s dropping in the same month. Whatever the case, these kicks are still sitting worldwide.
A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 4
A Ma Maniére’s “While You Were Sleeping” Jordan 4s dropped as part of their 2024 collection, but somehow, pairs are still available. I’m not going to lie, this is pretty surprising given how beautiful these kicks are. Not to mention how many sneakerheads we’ve heard singing their praise. At least if you were sleeping when these first came out, there’s still a chance to cop at select retailers.
Air Jordan 4 “Cave Stone”
It seemed like the Jordan 4 “Cave Stone” was on its way to becoming a contender for Sneaker of the Year 2025. Other than Nigel Sylvester’s AJ4 collaboration, the White Cements, and the return of the Undefeated 4s, there haven’t been many other AJ4 colourways that have drawn as much attention as these chic brown and black kicks. Maybe that’s all thanks to their resemblance to Travis Scott’s own Mocha 4s. Of course, the fact that they didn’t completely sell out in a matter of seconds only means that those who genuinely want a pair can actually grab them. There’s no real downside to that…at least not for the fans.
Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” (Black Tongue)
The “Fire Red” Jordan 5s (Black Tongue edition) were definitely high on the list of must-have releases for 2025. The colourway has always been a fan fave, and they’re even more tempting with the black tongue versus the silver. But even this clean shoe wasn’t an instant sellout this year. Sure, pairs aren’t available through Nike.com anymore (aside from big kids’ sizes), but you can still pick them up at select retailers. It’s honestly a strange sight.
Air Jordan 12 “Melo”
There were a lot of baby blue Jordans released this year, but the Jordan 12 “Melo” felt a little more special. Since its public release in 2004, this colourway has only seen three drops, one of which was specifically intended for the kiddos. Given that it’s been over two decades since new pairs have been released in adult sizes, not to mention the fact that they were inspired by Carmelo Anthony’s PEs, and they are a pretty clean colourway, these were expected to sell out very quickly. But at least there’s been ample opportunity to grab a pair.
Air Jordan 12 “French Blue”
Nike are offering a 20% discount on the “French Blue” Jordan 12s that dropped two months ago. It may not be one of the OG colourways, but the “French Blues” are arguably among the best of the model’s offerings. Which only makes the fact that they have been sitting that much more unexpected.
