J Balvin’s “Rio” Gets An Awesome Air Jordan 1 Makeover

J Balvin Air Jordan 1 Rio

By combining two of Jordan Brand’s most well-known collaborations with Latin music artist J Balvin, John Trottier (@johnnyskicks_) created this gorgeous pair of Air Jordan 1 “Rio” customs. Now, let’s explore the look.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

You can tell just by looking at them that this custom’s base pair is the psychedelic J Balvin x AJ1 that came out in 2020. However, Trottier borrows from the “Rio” J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 palette to give his custom a more understated look.

Dark colours dominate the design, which includes a black canvas upper and dark elephant print accents on the toe and surrounding the Swoosh.

In contrast, the heel and ankle flap of this custom design are given a pop of colour as a nod to the AJ3 collab’s gradient midsole.

The pair keeps its interchangeable heel patches and angular detailing as a nod to its J Balvin x AJ1 heritage. Still, a Rio-inspired colour scheme is applied to the customisable patches to give the look a more harmonious finish.

What We Like About The Sneakers

With this custom look, you have all the unique design elements of J Balvin’s Air Jordan 1 collab, along with the more refined colour scheme of his “Rio” AJ3 pair. However, while the combination improves the palette of his psychedelic AJ1 pair, we maintain that the recent AJ3 “Rio” design is still a step above this customised version.

Is The J Balvin x Air Jordan 1 “Rio” Available For Purchase?

If you want to commission a pair of these kicks, contact John Trottier through Instagram to learn more about availability and pricing.
