The Story Behind the Design
First, let’s talk about the film that inspired this stunning design. Michael Jordan’s 90s documentary/fantasy film, aptly named Michael Jordan’s Playground, is the muse for this design.
In the film, a young boy named Walt doesn’t make his school basketball team. He’s down in the dumps until he bumps into basketball legend Michael Jordan at a magical playground. Jordan shares his story about first being overlooked by his high school team but still rising up to become an NBA star. He shows Walt – and all of us – that if you don’t give up, you can be successful too.
The Sneaker Design
Well, the artistic elements of the shoe are inspired by this magical playground. The shoe primarily sports a black leather build, beautifully offset by green and red suede that has been given a worn-in look.

From there, the words “Michael Jordan’s Playground” that mimic the playground’s entrance sign are proudly displayed on the shoe’s heel. Other noteworthy details include the multicoloured Wings and Jumpman branding which we believe echoes the hues of the beautiful mural seen in the playground’s background. Finally, the classic pairing of a white midsole and black rubber outsole rounds out the design.
